International Women's Day celebrated the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It was also a chance for a call to action to accelerate gender equality. Our event was based on the International Institute for Sustainable Development's (IISD) theme for this year:

This is aligned with the priority theme for the UN's 68th Commission on the status of Women: 'Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective', and of course with the UN's chosen slogan for this year's International Women's Day:

On the day, a number of distinguished guests, including the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, shared their personal convictions, expertise and experiences, and discussed institutional and national efforts to improve women’s economic empowerment as a means to realising women’s rights and gender equality.
FIDEM Foundation service users also spoke about their experiences of challenges faced in relation to accessing education, thriving at work and home.
On the day, a number of distinguished guests, including the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, and Her Excellency Vanessa Frazier, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Malta to the UN, will share their personal convictions, expertise and experiences as well as discuss institutional and national efforts to improve women’s economic empowerment as a means to realising women’s rights and gender equality.
FIDEM Foundation service users will also talk about their experiences of challenges faced in relation to accessing education, thriving at work and home.
